Abstract: Wang Yangming’s concept of confidant is the concept of “knowing filial piety and brotherhood”, “knowing love and respect”, “knowing right and wrong” (“knowing”), “good good and evil” (“intellect”) and “true sincerity” (“love”). Among the original intention and conscience pointed to by confidant, true integrity is the foundation. In the most basic sense, the original intention and conscience are the perception and talents that are in harmony with things; with “long and short heartSweetheart Garden” refers to the original conscience. Introduction

 

From before Wang Yangming proposed the teaching of becoming a friend, “knowledge” and “confidant” had already appeared in Yang Ming’s kung fu theory. The key is to avoid being cautious and independent integrity, that is, always be highly alert to the “thoughts”. Integrity and integrity are ultimately to allow our inherent acquired sensations and responses to be truly reflected without any selfish desires. Integrity and integrity, one must establish the existence of “knowledge” as “knowledge”, and one must also predict the existence of a short-term mind that knows right and wrong. The most important meaning of this “knowledge” is no longer the kind of mutual communication and ability to adapt to filial piety, younger brother, and evil, butIt is the ability to distinguish and judge good and evil thoughts. After proposing the teaching of becoming a friend, the main effect of the friend is “knowing right and wrong”. This is an acquired, broad and permanent detailed review of moral and meaning, and is the key point of becoming a sanctified. The mind is either good or bad (“there are good and bad movements”), “the mind’s body is its own soul that is clear and unaware of it, and this is what is called a confidant. In this way, this confidant is more and more on the mind of the experience level and reflects it”[1]195. This ability of “knowing one’s own knowledge” can be said to be a major meaning of the confidant after Yang Ming established the teaching of confidant.

 

No doubt, Wang Yangming’s concept of “confidant” comes from “Mencius”. This point Yangming himself has reversals: “Mencius said: ‘The heart of long and short is to know.” Everyone has a long and short heart.’ That is what he calls a confidant.”[2]189 (Volume 5 of Wang Yangming’s Choice Collection, “With the Yuan Jing 2”) “Confidant is what Mencius calls ‘the heart of long and short, everyone has a long and short heart’.”[2]971 (Volume 26 of Wang Yangming’s Choice Collection, “Big Learning”) But Yangming paid knowledge The content of his own richness actually contains Mencius’s four-terminal heart, and more accurately says that it is not limited to the four-terminal heart.
